About Me

Artist Statement
Abbey Humphreys-Morris is a Tkaronto/Toronto-based independent artist-curator. She holds an MA in Art History and Visual Culture from York University, and is a self-taught painter. Drawn to experiences of girlhood, instances of memory, and moments of in-between, Abbey’s intention is to create experiences of uplifting, warm nostalgia with her work.

Abbey is a co-founder and the art director of Milk Bag Magazine, an independent arts and literary magazine focusing on sharing experimental Canadian poetry, fiction, and contemporary art, and is the co-host of new, Canadian podcast Softblock, a show about girlhood, community, and talking about things—big and small.

Most recently, Abbey curated In-Between: Perspectives on Artist Motherhood at The Gales Gallery in October of 2023, and will be curating Early Bird, will you still love me? at She Said Gallery in April of 2025.
